Rohan Bist

Rohan, an Ealing local, holds a Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Simon Hayes (Carlson Gracie London) and a Judo black belt under Jo Crowley (Ealing Judo Club). 

Rohan has a wealth of experience with 19+ years in BJJ and Judo.

He enjoys helping students develop their games, both competitively and recreationally. He also enjoys supporting students to achieve their fitness goals through grappling, whether that be increased strength, weight loss/maintenance, or improved cardio. 

Below are some of his achievements:

  • Former GB Judo Squad member with 2 National medals (1 Gold and 1 Bronze)
  • Competed across Europe.
  • 10+ golds at domestic competition (Judo + BJJ)
  • Level 1 Judo Coach (British Judo)
  • Level 1 Wrestling Coach (British Wrestling)

Rohan also holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Finance.

Emma Pursey

Emma is a Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) brown belt under Dickie Martin (Carlson Gracie UK); she is an active international competitor, a passionate coach and an experienced referee.

Emma has trained under a range of instructors, including Ffion Davies and Ash Williams, and enjoys combining the styles and techniques of those different influences in her own game and teaching style. Emma strongly believes in the ethos of bio-mechanical Jiu-Jitsu, whereby participants do not rely purely on their physicality to achieve success.

Whilst Emma loves judo, she accepts her position as Grange Jiu-Jitsu’s resident guard-puller.

Emma’s notable achievements:

  • British Open Champion (purple belt, M1)
  • 2x British Nationals Champion (blue belt)
  • 2x English Open Champion (blue belt)
  • 3x Paris Open Champion (blue belt)
  • Enyo Grappling, Battle Grapple and Hajime vet
  • 8x IBJJF Major Medalist
  • 20+ golds at domestic competition
Emma also holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. 

 

Akhil Bist

Akhil, another Ealing local, holds a Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Simon Hayes (Carlson Gracie London) and a Judo black belt under Jo Crowley (Ealing Judo Club).

Akhil has been training for over 19 years in grappling, starting Judo at 8 and BJJ at 13. In this time, he has travelled and trained at some of the world’s best gyms with top-tier coaches including John Danaher and Marcelo Garcia. Despite the wealth in experience, Akhil is constantly looking to study new techniques and details from instructional videos and competition footage to improve upon his own game, and to share with students. 

 

With 4 years’ coaching experience teaching both kids and adults, Akhil is passionate about helping students achieve their goals, whether that be increased self-confidence or competition success.

Below are some of the achievements:

  • Former GB Judo Squad member, with 4 National medals (including 2 Golds)
  • 30+ golds at domestic competition (Judo + BJJ)
  • 4x English Open BJJ Champion (Coloured belts)
  • Competed across the world including – USA, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and many more
  • Level 1 Judo Coach (British Judo)
  • Level 1 Wrestling Coach (British Wrestling)

Outside of grappling, Akhil holds a 1st class degree in Mathematics.
